12 Plus has been approved as an Education Improvement Organization (EIO) under the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. As one of the few Philadelphia-based approved organizations, 12 Plus has partnered with Friends of Education K-12 to help our supporters maximize the impact their donations.
The PA EITC program was established as way to issue state tax credits to individuals and businesses who make direct donations to approved Pennsylvania charities. Donors who enroll this year are required to commit to gifts in 2024 and 2025, and the tax credits equal to 90% of the contribution if claimed for two consecutive years.
To participate, Pennsylvania’s EITC law requires that a participating individual contributes to a Special Purpose Entity (“SPE”). The SPE then distributes the funds to the charity of the participant’s choice. 12 Plus has partnered with Friends of Education LLC to facilitate this process. To capture the powerful impact the EITC program can have, Friends of Education have outlined the following scenario:
