Life of a Fellow: Josue Ochoa

High school is already pretty challenging, but navigating that while learning a new language can be especially difficult. Thankfully, our students have a community of educators and peers who understand and are here to help with that process.

Meet Josue

Josue is a Fellow at Eastside High School. As a recent grad from Swarthmore College who majored in Educational Studies, Josue dedicates his time to learning inside the classroom, and in the real world.

Whether it’s researching the differences in city planning based on maps or learning the physics of bowling (which he’s amazing at btw), Josue is always trying to learn something new!

Translanguaging at Eastside

“At Eastside, we see how our teachers are constantly striving to engage with their students beyond the classroom, pushing them to learn tangible skills such as self-advocacy and confidence. We see how our students are creating their own spaces that allow for them to rely on each other, to rely on the community that they themselves built.”
